DESCRIPTION:This Sensory Inclusive Performance is intended to create a welcoming and supportive environment for children and adults on the autism spectrum as well as individuals with other sensitivity issues or developmental disabilities. To create a sensory-inclusive setting\, slight adjustments have been made to the production including reduced sound levels\, no flashing or strobe lights and minimal special effects. An area adjacent to the theater has been designated as a Quiet Room with specially trained volunteers to provide audience support. \nCelebrating their 25th Anniversary\, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida is proud to present a “sensory-inclusive” dance performance with this modified\, shortened version of the holiday classic ballet\, The Nutcracker. Created by the world-famous composer Tchaikovsky nearly 200 years ago\, The Nutcracker tells the story of a spectacular Christmas Eve party and the magical events that take place late that night. SUMMARY:JDAIM Movie Screening of Shira Choir: Just As I am and Miami Sound Choir Night at MB JCC
DESCRIPTION:Shira Choir: Just As I Am\n\n\nSPECIAL UNDER THE STARS PRESENTATION \nA little film with a great big heart and an official selection of MJFF 2022\, Evan Beloff’s documentary follows the lives of several members of the Shira Choir\, comprised of an exceptional group of singers with special needs\, and the choirmaster that unites them. In Just As I Am\, we meet Daniel Benlolo\, a cantor and rabbi who founded the Shira Choir for special needs adults who must leave the structured confines of school once they’ve reached age 21. He has seen how singing in the ensemble provides these individuals with motivation\, goals\, and community\, and the results are transformative. This touching journey through sorrow and joy\, life and death\, shows us how music challenges\, heals\, and uplifts those who are devoted to it. \nPreceding the film presentation\, the Miami Sound Choir will be performing a special rehearsal from 6pm-7:30pm inside the Miami Beach JCC that will be open to the general public. \nImmediately following the film Dr. Diane Adreon (UM-NSU CARD) and Nancy Zaretsky\, Inclusion Specialist with the Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance\, will address the issues that adults with disabilities and their families face. \nThis special event is presented in celebration of Jewish Disabilities Awareness and Inclusion Month and is made possible with the support of the Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance\, Miami Beach JCC\, UM CARD\, Casa Familia\, Miami Sound Space\, and the Miami Jewish Film Festival.
