SUMMARY:Florida Voices for Health Care Roundtable on: Access to Care for Floridians with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:Through 2021\, the Florida Voices for Health will be working to capture the experiences of Floridians with disabilities and to share them directly with elected officials. We want to know what works well and what doesn’t in critical programs like Medicaid\, Medicare\, and SSI. \nWe’re inviting Floridians with disabilities\, their family members\, caregivers\, and providers to join a small group discussion about their experiences and how the health care system can be improved. The roundtables will be accessible for all people with disabilities and gift cards provided for participation. \nThis session will focus on the positive and negative experiences Floridians with disabilities have had accessing health care and other services in Florida. We want to hear from all Floridians who self-identify as having a disability. \n\n\n\nTime \n\nWe’re inviting Floridians with disabilities\, their family members\, caregivers\, and providers to join a small group discussion about their experiences and how the health care system can be improved. This includes Floridians who have received or are waiting to be approved for home and community-based services and long-term care and support services. Each roundtable will have accommodations for all people with disabilities and gift cards will be provided for participation. \n  \nHow to Participate \nIf you’re interested in joining one of our small group discussions\, please register as they are space limited. The 60-minute conversation will take place over Zoom and will be recorded for note taking purposes only. DESCRIPTION:The Little Lighthouse Foundation’s (“LLF”) Story Hour is a reading program and is hosted at Chapman Partnership. \nLLF’s Story Hour takes place in Chapman Partnership’s Family Resource Center. Volunteers work with children ages four to seven to entertain and educate them with group readings and activities. Volunteers will spend the first portion of the hour-long program reading to the children and encouraging children to read aloud to the group. Reading is followed by an arts & crafts project that varies each week. Children keep the craft projects they create and volunteers are encouraged to create their own projects as well.

In her role at FND\, she supports families who have children with special healthcare needs\, complex medical conditions\, developmental disabilities and mental health challenges and the professionals who serve them. She has created webinars\, resource materials\, curricula\, and presentations that are given at conferences and meetings throughout the state.
