Matan’s Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) Lesson Plans are designed for Congregational School and Jewish Day School educators. Here is a link to their JDAIM lesson plan landing page.

With this resource, any teacher can guide their students through important themes, interactive activities and meaningful Jewish discussions about disability.

The lesson plans are divided into 3 sections: Kindergarten to 2nd grade, 3rd to 5th grade and Middle and High School. Each section contains various options so that you can decide which is the best fit for your particular students.

Additionally, please see this video posted by RespectAbility of Judy Heumann z’l in celebration of JDAIM’s 14th anniversary. Judy addresses her lived experiences with disability and faith. In this video she discussed her memoir, Being Heumann – An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Advocate. Judy provides insight into the nuances of her identity as a disabled Jewish woman and how it has informed her activism. Along with a personal history of these important issues, Judy hopes to ignite a call to action for activists and faith leaders that will shape the future of disability inclusion in faith communities.
