The Intersection of Beauty, Disability,

Justice and Civil Rights

Wednesday, April 14th, 7:00 pm

As part of our ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we invite you to learn from a member of the largest minority group in the country: people with disabilities.

Social Justice Speaker Series welcomes Shelly Baer, LCSW, a pioneer in outreach and education regarding disability.

Diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age three, Shelly pushes boundaries through her activism work. Some of her most notable projects include the publication of Access Miami, a comprehensive accessibility resource guide for the disabled, and founding Bold Beauty Project, a photography exhibit that showcases the beauty, sensuality and empowerment of disabled women.

Shelly currently serves as Director of Leadership Training Initiatives at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Mailman Center for Child Development, and is a Temple Beth Am Day School graduate!

Join us for this unique opportunity to learn from a teacher, advocate, creator and member of our Beth Am community.
